Here is a bit more from Nell: My name is Nell Aburto, and my family and I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have been photographing children and families for 12 years, but my recent emphasis has been on newborn photography. Oh, how I love those little babies. I take an organic approach so many of the images are of mothers simply holding, kissing, or smiling at their baby. The session unfolds naturally. I keep the color scheme neutral, and don’t use a lot of props because I want the emphasis to be on the relationship between the family members and not on the props or busy background. I absolutely love photographing mothers and their children. I don’t know exactly why, but I think it’s because to me, a mother snuggling her child epitomizes beauty.

I recently photographed this lovely mama and baby session which illustrates my organic style and love of natural light. I hope all the mothers out there continue to take their own great pictures at home, but also don’t forget to get in the picture from time to time
