Meet Your Guides

Kate Saumweber Hogan
Kate is a dedicated midwife, business owner, and one of the visionaries behind Gather & Grow: A Connected Parenting Series. With over a decade of experience empowering families through community-based midwifery care, she has always believed in the importance of informed choice, as well as tuning into parent’s intuitions, for parenting decisions, every step of the way. At Gather & Grow, Kate brings her compassionate leadership and practical wisdom to help parents cultivate mindful, connected relationships. Outside of her work, she treasures outdoor adventures and quiet, joyful moments with her three children.

Emily Strayer
Emily is a warm, dynamic leader whose passion for supporting families shines at Gather & Grow. As the Administrative Director of a busy midwifery practice, she leverages her background in customer service and team development to create a nurturing, efficient environment for parents. Drawing from her experience as a birth doula and lactation counselor, Emily is dedicated to guiding families through the transformative journey of parenthood. When she’s not at work, Emily loves sharing adventures with her three children, soaking up sunshine, and enjoying cozy evenings.
What topics are covered in the program?
Over the 12-week journey, Gather & Grow guides you through a comprehensive array of themes designed to support every aspect of mindful, connected parenting. You’ll start by setting clear intentions and grounding yourself in the present moment, then move into developing practical routines and nurturing self-care. The sessions also explore building confidence, balancing structure with flexibility, cultivating gratitude and joy, and addressing key areas like healthy sleep, nutrition, and relationship-building—all culminating in a reflective session to set future goals and celebrate your growth.
How much time will I need to commit weekly?
You’ll have a 1-hour live call, a minimum of 1 hour completing follow-up challenges, and additional time to connect with our community for support. The program is designed to grow with you—you can engage as deeply as you’d like!
What if I miss a live call?
Don’t worry! All live calls are recorded and available for you to watch at your convenience, so you won’t miss a thing.
Where is the program based?
Gather & Grow is entirely virtual, so you can join from anywhere! Our sessions and community are designed to connect parents from all over, fostering a supportive network that transcends geographic boundaries.
Can you share a Sample Week – Theme & Affirmation?
Week 4: Cultivating Connection
Affirmation: “I am present and patient in the moments that matter.”
This week includes reflection on shared experiences, a journaling prompt to identify key moments of connection, and a family bonding activity.
What is the Weekly Session Flow?
Each week revolves around a distinct theme. Our sessions begin with an opening ritual to center your focus, followed by an engaging exploration of the week’s topic. You’ll then reflect on insights with a brief journaling opportunity and optional personal or group sharing, take on a practical weekly challenge, and conclude with a closing ritual that reinforces the theme of the week and connection.

Do I need prior mindfulness experience to join?
No experience is necessary! Our program is designed for parents at every level—whether you’re new to mindfulness or have practiced for years.
